Accommodation for Cycling in France

Accommodation

We are based in a lovely fermette, tucked away on the edge of Maumas, a tiny hamlet between La Souterraine and Gueret. One of many small, stone-built hamlets that stand as if time has somehow been ignored. This is the Creuse department, known to some as 'the green and blue land' because of its green fields, woods, and rolling hills, and incredible blue skies which are reflected in its many rivers and lakes.

Cyclosportives
The house is very much a home, and we hope you will take advantage of that and treat it as such. Although we will be keen to show you France in all its glory, once behind closed doors we have managed to smuggle a few creature comforts down here in case you’re feeling lazy, (starting with electricity and power showers, but don’t tell the locals!).

Cyclosportives
There is Sky TV (essential around six nations time), a DVD player, snooker, internet access, marmite etc, and two pretty mad labradors who will definitely drag you out for a walk if you fall in to the trap of stroking them.
Mind the cows
The pace of life here is slower, and the stresses of other lands are easily forgotten. Predominantly rural, (there are 400,000 cows and only 130,000 inhabitants!) fishing is one of the most popular activities in the region. Aside from the roaming deer, boar, falcons, and rabbits, the rivers and lakes are stacked with fish, the Creuse in particular.  So if you feel like taking a day out of the saddle to go fishing, you’ve come to the right spot.

You won't go hungry
We love our food down here, and the local produce is fantastic, so you certainly won’t go hungry, or thirsty. All our meals are home-cooked and a balanced mix between a gourmet feast and a cyclists nutritional needs. The chances are we'll have the odd barbie, and Limousin is famous for its beef, so if you are vegetarian, please tell us in advance!
